COVID 19 Policies and Procedures for Students and Parents update  from 17th May 2021 -

Following the current guidelines issued from the Scottish Government, NHS Scotland and Musician’s Union, we are now able to resume some face-to-face lessons in Scotland.

As a result, l have updated the Policies and Procedures for students returning to lessons from 17th May 2021.  These are subject to any changes issued by the Scottish Government and students/parents will be notified immediately.

Policies and Procedures

  1. If your child and family have any symptoms of COVID 19, please do not attend your lesson and follow government advice. If you have to self-isolate do contact me via email bowsandbridges@hotmail.com or by mobile 07592341743 to make alternative lesson arrangements.

  • Students will be split in to 2 groups for Test and Protect purposes.

  • Students will be contacted 24hrs before their face-to-face lesson to check their Covid status.

  • Only 2 students per teaching day will be allowed to come in for a face-to-face lesson.

  1. Preventing Virus Spread

  • Hand Sanitation – Hand sanitiser will be provided upon arrival and must be used before entry to lessons. If you have your own, you can use this instead. If you require to use the bathroom, students will be provided with hand soap and paper towels.

  • Face Masks – These must be worn by all students attending face-to-face lessons, and must remain on for the full duration of the lesson, unless exempt.

  • Entering/Leaving Lessons – Students must not come inside accompanied. Please ring the bell and l will open the door and step back to allow students to enter the music room safely. I will then close the door and enter while students are unpacking. Students will be asked to remain in the music room at the end of their lesson to allow me to re- open the door. I will come back in to the music room and ask the student to leave. Once the student has left the building, l will come and close the door.

   2. During Lessons

  • Social distancing - students will have an area marked out in the music room and must stay within the markings for the duration of the lesson. This will be in accordance with the 2 metre Social Distancing guidelines set by the Scottish Government.

  • Students will be provided with a separate chair and music stand – these will be set up and cleaned after each lesson. Students must not touch anything else while in attendance.

  • Students must bring their own music/pencil/rosin/spare strings – notes will not be provided in the lesson and will be emailed after – please allow 48hrs for this. Any music required will be emailed beforehand for printing/ordering or quarantined before the given lesson if absolutely necessary.

  • Instruments – There will be no sharing of instruments. If instruments require maintenance or tuning, gloves, apron and isopropyl alcohol will be used and disposed of appropriately.

  • Ventilation – The window and music room door will be open for the duration of the lesson to allow for better air flow. Please wear/bring extra layers in case you find the room cold.

  • PPE – Tissues will be provided in the music room to catch any coughs or sneezes in order to maintain good hygiene practices. Disposable masks will also be on hand in case students have forgotten. These will be disposed of appropriately.

   3. Online Lessons

  • These will run concurrently with face-to-face lessons, via Zoom/Skype/Messenger

  4. Group Rehearsals/Concerts/Concert Outings

  • These will remain postponed until further notice.

   5. How You Can Help

  • If any students have been off school/work due to illness, please do get in touch to arrange an alternative lesson day. You should not attend your lesson as normal. Cancellation notice must be given no later than 24hrs of your lesson.

  • If you do present ill at your lesson you will be sent home immediately in order to protect all the members at Bows & Bridges. Test and Protect guidelines will be enacted in these circumstances.
